Seeding Dead rock

If i just lay dead rock against some live rock will this seed it? Also how will i know when the dead rock becomes "alive" and how long should this dead to live process take?

Just adding it to your tank will seed it. In a couple months you can consider it good LR.

i agree. Just be sure to rinse off the dead rock really good first cuz it will ahve lotta nutrients from dead stuff in it.
