Recirculating Skimmer Plans
Does any one out there have a link to some good DIY plans for a recirculating skimmer or mods to make a skimmer a recirculating skimmer that can stand alone outside the sump and be hard plumbed into the return. I am wanting to power it with a pump from within the sump then send the water through the skimmer and t it back into my return line. Is this possible because the only room I have for a skimmer is beside my tank in the corner. It is a 55 gal. reef with 75-80lbs. of live rock, 4-5in DSB , and a 35gal. sump. Please help I really dont want to fork out the money for a $3-5 hundred dollar skimmer if I can do a pretty good job with a DIY for under $200.

I was in the same situation as you, I just ended up buying a Reef Octopus NW200, and doign the ASM recirc mod on it. It was cheaper than building one.

I spent ~$190 for my NW200, maybe $10 for uniseals, and maybe $15 on a 1.5" gate valve.
