Tubastraea i just got. pictures included
I have had these corals in the past and i know about feeding. i just wanted to know does anyone have success with dosing food in water column versus spot feeding them. i remember when i got my first one i posted a thread a someone posted a picture of thier non photosythesis corals and he had sun corals. he also said all he does is dose the water with zoomax and phytomax. in any case heres a picture to enjoy! in the background to the right you can see my last one i had . i neglected to feed him for a month in the past and he never responded back into shape. i wont repeat that mistake again. i still feed the tiny polyps thats left but he doesnt grow anymore . sad to see but a nice way to compare what the sun coral should look like. again enjoy.

Nice. Best way I found to feed them is to get a 2 liter bottle and cut the bottom out. Attach it to a dowel rod by using a ty-wrap around the threaded part. Place it over the coral and feed with a baster. Just come by ever 5-10 minutes and stir the water with the baster. Works great and keeps the food in place. A must if you have cleaner shrimp.

yeah i know they pick thru the polyps if not but i want to know if anyone has had or heard about dosing through the water column. ? i know u have to be aware of water quality but not sure how well it works. i heard of it once as i stated. i hate it when you feed them without the soda top and the shrimp come attacking! LOL. actually its annoying to see. i have also used another method that i prefer when trying not to pollute tank. i place a small dish /cup/bowl in the tank next to sun coral. then place it in the dish and remove it so coral never leaves water. now spot feed like crazy. when finished i recoimend no longer than 20-30 minutes. bring cup to tank water surface without dumping any water from cup quickly remove coral, exposing to air briefly , then place into tank where it ussually goes. i have had no bad effect from doing this and the stuff in the cup doesnt get added!

Feed the shrimp first, then feed the polyps.
