yeah, you would probably be fine with the 2500, no need to have so much flow through your sump imo.

how bad/good is the pump's quality? (compared to something like a mag7)

I have an OR 3500 & OR2500 running. The 3500 is on a CL on my 36g tank, the 2500 is my return from the sump. I have never used a Mag pump, but my understanding is they produce a lot of heat and may be loud. The OR are pretty quiet pumps, imo. In fact, the owner of a Mag pump commented on how quiet my system was just recently.

Of course, flow wise, you need to figure out what your needs are. I am not sure you'll get away with the 2500 if you want the heater in the sump to keep the tank temp up in a 90g. But, I am not sure.

The professor watched the overflowing cup until he could no longer restrain himself. “It’s overfull! No more will go in!” the professor blurted. “You are like this cup,” the master replied, “How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your cup.”

Current Tank Info: 56g, 20g.
