Baffled by Baffles

Can anyone tell me if the first sump baffle should be over or under. Does it make a difference? And why? Thanks

Check out www.melevsreef.com for loads of info on sumps.

If you're making a bubble trap you want the first and third baffles to be attached to the bottom of the tank with water flowing OVER. The middle baffle should be raise about 1" off the bottom with water going UNDER.
