any suggestions for an easier move?

I'm moving into a larger home on Wed.

I also upgraded my fishies' home to a 210 from a 55

It is a FOWLR

a foxface,
2x clowns
a yellow tail damsel
and
a Naso Tang

with aprox 60 lbs of LR

the filtration needless to say is also upgrading to a pro clear sump model 400,
with a magdrive 2400

the new tank will have over flows.

where as before, my 55 had a AC 70 on the back. and 2 power heads.

my 'plan' is to prep the water and set it up with the current LR ,

and the add my fishies.

am I preparing for a disaster?

BTW, what else will I need?
what type of skimmer should I add later on?

Congrats on the move! We are planning on doing a similar move in the spring. Not looking forward to moving the tank.

The good news is that because you are upgrading the tank and its a FOWLR, this should go a lot easier than moving a whole reef setup. I think your plan is a good one. Get it all setup without the fish and make sure the water parameters are as close as possible (pH, salinity, etc.) to the old setup. You could try to as much of the old water as possible to buffer the new water although I don't know how beneficial that will really be. Acclimate them as if they were brand new from the LFS and then add them.

You could then use your 55 as a sump for the new tank. You may need to invest in some more LR if you are planning on expanding your fish stock.

You will definately need to get some more rock. You should consider buying about 100 lbs of base rock, and another 100 lbs of live rock as a bare minimum. You will also want to set up a sump and what skimmer you get depends a lot on the constraints that your sump has.

I would keep the fish in the 55 for about a month while your new tank and the rock settles in.

Hope you made sure that your tank's drains can handle a Mag 24. If it only has a couple of 1 inch drains, that's only about 1200 gph it can handle. And I'm not sure how big that sump is, but that's some serious water movement that will be going through it with that pump.

I am planning on getting more rock, the upgraded tank was a last minute idea,

I was at the LFS, I saw it, I have the space in the new home, and the rest is history.

problem is , I am closing on my home on the same day, so there isn't a lot of time for acclimation.

I will set up the new tank and then drive 45 minutes to my 'current' home take out my fishies, then drive 45 minutes to the new home, while someone else 'breaks down' the 55.

I think the pro clear is a 75 gallon sump, I could be wrong though,

I'm not sure about the size of the drill holes on the overflows,
the guy sold me the tank , the filter, and the pump,

I'm sure he wouldn't steer me wrong, since he also sets up and maintains tanks for a living.

Everything on this tank is 'new' to me, so I hope I get everything right!

also, I'll be adding bottled drinking water to the new tank in opposed to the faucet on the 55 gallon (different water quality)

so, will I have to adjust the PH or will the sand and rock be enough? and / or what types of buffer should I be prepared for???
