wait...you tried windex, soap and all those on the INSIDE of your tank??? I really hope it was diluted and you better make sure to rinse that thing VERY good before even trying to get it up and running.
Also....have you tried filling it up with water to see if you can still see it? and once its filled w/water, have you tried scraping it off w/a blade?

In my limited experience, the film you see when the tank is dry pretty much disappears once you fill it with water. Try it out and see what happens. You'll need to rinse it well to get the cleansers out before you start using it for critters. Consider using vinegar again to remove the soap and cleansers residue, then spray it out really well with a hose. Good luck.

The tank is empty now and is going to be filled and cleaned out several more times to get all the chemicals out of it. I'm also going to get some more viniger and give it another bath before anything live goes into it. I noticed the film when I first filled it but I'm going to check it again tonight when I rinse it a half a dozen times.
