Bubble Factory
I think it is my tubing, but I get alot of bubbles in my sump, they all clear out by the time they go back into the tank, but I think it should be preventable in the first place. Here's some pics of my intake.
Thanks in advance for any advice! |

There isnt a real good way that I have heard of to eliminate bubbles going Into the sump; the force of water falling through the drain lines and hitting ths surface water of the sump is going to create bubbles pretty much no matter what. Thats why baffles are built in sumos, just to eliminate the bubbles before they go through the return back to the display. If there arent bubbles in the main tank, there really isnt a problem with them- wont really hurt anything in a sump.

Ok, I thought it was because of my hose being all twisted or something. I thought I may need to use pvc. But if this is normal, I won't worry about it. Thanks for the input!

so long as the bubbles subside prior to going back into your display .. all is fine. Your sump is doing what it is supposed to be doing which is slowing the water enough for the bubbles to surface and leave the system.

I had a very similar problem when I changed to my current sump. My problem turned out to be that my return line to long and looped lower than my inlet on my sump. By the advice of another reefer I shortened the length of my return to wher I had no up flow or horizontal flow and had many less bubbles. You might give that a try.

I do need to shorten my return for sure. Its really long. I will try that and see if it at least makes less bubbles. Thanks.

if your going to go reef like your sig says, get rid of the bioballs, they will give you problems with nitrates
