It's not so much the heater, as the controllor for it that's important. Get 2 150W heaters with a RANCO controller.

Don't waste your money on the Won Bros digital titanium heaters. I love the titanium heaters themselves as they're indestructible. But the controllers on these heaters suck. Each one displays a completely different temperature... I already had one of them die after less than a year; it was showing the tank temp as 180F (though it wasn't actually running to try to maintain that thankfully).

i had the won bros digital as well and mine read 164 degrees. as you can imagine I freaked out, but like tgunn said the heater wasnt trying to maintain that temp. this is a good thread as i am looking for some good quality heaters.

I have 2 won bbrothers 150 titanium (not digital) on my 55 and so far I am happy with them. The only truth is that all heaters fail (just hope they stick off not on). I do not have a controller but I would like to use one.

I went through numerous heaters until I bought an Ebo Jager. I haven't had to buy a new one since.

Ebo Jager, two adding up to the total wattage needed, on a seperate controller (AQ in my case).

Never used any other type in every tank I have had. No problems.

I would use 2 150's. That way if 1 fails nothing will happen too fast.
