sunburned fish??

Hi all,

I jsut got a flame angel a few weeks ago. He is doing great and eats a lot. Hes a fatty But since i got him his forehead area has been getting blacker. It looks like he was dusted with ash. I checked with the lfs that is very knowledgable and the girl said that the fish has like a sunburn from my metal halides. Is this true?

I have 2x175w on my 29 with 10g sump. If I got 1x250W would that fix the problem? Is this damage permanent? I got this lighting setup cuz i got a good deal on it. If it is damaging my fish and making them uglier I will put this setup on my 46gal setup and find another for the 29.

Will geting a weaker light heal the fish up? Or lowering the amount to a 1 bulb mh?

Thanks for the help!
Chris

This would only be possible if you had DE bulbs without a protective sheild. seeing that you have a 175 they come with an out sheild so your lights are not your problem. I would check your water quality and fighting amongst other fish.
