what 600-900
600 (at four feet of head) to 900 gph pump is the quietest?
i hate to randomly spend 135-200 bucks and not get it right! (because we never do that in reefing, do we?!) so far most people have said eheim 1250. thanks! tim |

How did you come up with 600 - 900? What size tank and sump?

75 gallon tank, 55 gallon sump. i am looking for 250 gph through the skimmer, so the remaining will be dumped through the fuge.
one 1" hole pours 600 gallons an hour. we have one 1" hole for main drop, and then another one inch higher in case of 'snail clog.' normal tank current will be 20x through powerheads but will be replaced with something else next year. |

Eheim 1250 isn't going to give that much flow even at 0ft of head you'll have to go with the 1262.

I have a 1260 on my 90, with a 40g sump. The return is divided into two spraybars on the floor of the tank under LR. It works great, quiet (slight hum) and has low power use. Eheim works great for me and I highly recommend the 1260 (anything bigger will blow you away on your size tank)
