Water Question?
I just would like to know if Drinking water in the gallon jugs from Walmart has ever been used in a reef tank?
What is the pro and cons? Can I boil it and make it more usable? I have been using Distilled for my AP12 but some one bought me a bunch a Drinking water instead of Distilled like I asked for! ![]() Anyways, I just wanted to know if I could use it to fill a small 3 gallon picotope. Or should I really wait and get Distilled? |

dont use drinking water. It is probably fortified with minerals for better taste, but its a no-no for reef. Get distilled or RO/DI water.

I have read about people buying wal-marts spring water and using it. A lfs in you're area may also sell pre-mixed saltwater.

Well, if you are talking about only 3 gallons, may as well just get the distilled water and drink the drinking water.
![]() I haven't used it, but the "spring water" I've gotten usually has TDS of 13 or 14. So I would think it would be just fine to use. |
