pesky mantis..
I know there are many of you out there who lke these guys, but I am not one of them...I got a piece of rock from a fellow reefer a while back and now I have a new tank mate- a Mantis. Besides taking everything down does anyone have a suggestion that has worked to get him out?

They are pretty smart guys, sometimes a bottle with bait will work but typically, you gotta pull his home rock out and nail him with some soda water...

I tried everything(traps, nets, bait, ect...) to get mine out of my 55g. Nothing worked. I just located the peice of LR he was in and took it out. Now he has his own tank. Good Luck.

To Reef Central I found a mantis in my tank about fifteen minutes ago -- went to feed the fish their dinner and was absolutely shocked to see a little face looking back at me! I've posted in the mantis forum asking about removal tips, since mine's living in a large piece of rock at the bottom of a big stack and pulling out the rock would be a major undertaking. If I get some good tips and/or have any luck with mine, I'll pass the info on to you .

If it's small, and a Smash-Strike mantis, I wouldn't worry. I had smaller Stomatopods living in my reef without any harm to fish or inverts, just the occasional missing hermit or snail.
