Question for the Future

I have a Sailfin in my 75g FOWLR setup. Right now he's only 2.5" or so, but I know he will outgrow my tank.

How do you know when they are too big. Do they exhibit certain characteristics or is it a judgement call.

Mostly a judgement call, but declining health and vigor is also a good sign.
