What do you mean "support". If you want 5 0r 10 frags that you don't see first go for it. If you don't... don't!

I'm not sure what you're asking!

How large is that tank? What are your water parameters, how stable have they been? How long has the tank been running?

OH! HA I guess I should read the entire post first.

If I were you, I would experiment with some montipora first under VHO. See how it does. Acropora is going to require quite a bit more light than monti.
You could also probably try stylophora (birds nest) (don't remember if they included that).
Personally acro under VHO, I wouldn't. I've actually tried it. Didn't work!

Just my two cents.

It's hard to say. You don't see too many colorful SPS tanks with only VHO (there are a few though). Most likely they will lose their color. If you want to try SPS, I would start with a few easy to keep ones and see how they work out for you. See if you can get some cheap frags from some local people.

BTW what size of tank is it? Fish? skimmer? More flow would be ideal.

I'm guessing it's a 40g.... as apprx. 900gph total is 22x tank volume he stated....
you want mor flow most likely and the answers to TimTen's and LeeWeber's questions are very important.

Fish? longnose hawkfish, adding pair of occeris clowns soon

How long has the tank been running?

need to test to know where they are currently and what you need to do to get them into best levels & keep them there(params)

2 months is pretty young, did you use new live rock or rock from an established tank?

Definitely need to get the skimmer first

imo

If the tank is that new I would start with something less demanding. I would got for a leather or a frogspawn. Try and stay away from GSP or mushrooms as those are fast spreaders and you will have to fight them down the road when you go SPS. Also start monitoring you Alk and Calcium. I would also look at a possible upgrade in light if thats not possible you could probly find a local reefer that could give you a frag of purp digi or a monti cap to test your lignting. I would not spend the money on a frag pack just yet.

i would say no under your current conditions of a new tank, no skimmer, and not knowing what your parameters are.

the low light will also not help. flow is on the low side as well.

I would get a skimmer, maintain good water perams for a couple months, get more flow (maybe add a nano 6025), then place the sps near the top of the tank
