hello EuroReef skimmer owners, i am thinking about getting the RS80 version for my 75 gallon and would like to get some feedback from you guys.
if you like yours, would this version be okay for my tank size? would you get bigger, etc. Thanks up front, Wojo. |

I like my Euro-Reef skimmers. I have one for my 58g (CS 6-2+), 120g (RS 8-2), and 155g (CS 6-1) - yes - I know the smallest skimmer on the largest tank is very disproportionate but it's my employers tank and getting them to spend anything above a hundred dollars is painful.
Here is a thread on the ER skimmers http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...30#post8868530

I have a RS-100 on 90 gallon, it sits in a 30 gal sump. Works great, 1 inch of gunk every 2-3 days.

If you get the RS80, there is a "Promo" model that is only $180. Good deal.

I run the rs 80 on my 55 gallon. I run it wet and fill about 1/2 of the collection cup every 3 to 4 days. It works very well, and dials in very easily. I recommend.

I have a CS6-2+ on my 100 gallon tank, a CS8-3 on my 150 gallon tank, and an RS250 on my 270 gallon tank. I have found them to be reliable, easy to set/adjust, and skim my water effectively. Having owned several other brands in years past, I would recommend Euro-Reef skimmers highly and think they are well worth their price.
I think that the RS80 would be plenty adequate for your tank. |

I have a RS-80 promo model on my 29 and am very happy with it. I get about 1-2" of gunk a week. I know this doesn't soud like much but it is a oversized skimmer. The tank is well stocked with soft coral, but the only fish are a frogfish and a damsel.
I agree that an RS-80 would be fine for you tank. I hope to put mine on a 75 this year. |

I just put ( last week) one of the promos on my 90. I it is pulling about 1/2 inch of gunk every 2-3 days out of the tank. I think you
would be fine. I am running a 30 gallon fuge full of macro and cheto in my sump.

I swapped out an el-crappo coralife 125 skimmer on my 75G system for an rs80 the difference is almost unbelieveable. I used the empty the cup on the coralife maybe once a month. The Euro-reef is full every day or two. I can't get over how much crap it pulls from my system. It is the best skimmer as far as I'm concerned. I'm a little p.o'd that I bought mine at the LFS for $299 and now they are $180 on sale from marine depot, but oh-well, I learned my lesson.

<< To all that respond >>
To add value to the thread, it would be nice to know what skimmer was previously used before using the ER. Thanks

Here the good, bad, and the ugly about euroreef.
The good- the unit works well, pulls out a ton of skimate, and is very easy to adjust. The bad- Mine has cracked and/or seperated in several places and I have had to glue the unit back together several times. I have also had several pump failures. I also think they are way overpriced compared to other brands. The ugly- euroreef is about the worst company to deal with if you have problems, rude, arrogant, jerks. The first time my pump failed I was able to get a replacement from Premium Aquatics with no problems. The second time Jason from Premium E-Mailed me to let me know that in order to get a replacement pump I would need to give him the serial number on the unit. Well here is where my little adventure began. I couldn't find a serial number so he gives me the number for euroreef and I talk to this jerk over there. He tells me where to find the serial number on the pump body and I tell him there is no such number. Impossible he tells me. I tell him it isn't impossible and there is no such number stamped on the body anywhere. This guy then basically then accuses me of having a counerfiet skimmer and refuses to sell me a pump. Well I bought the skimmer from Premium and it came in a euroreef box, with euroreef instructions, with the euroreef emblem on top of the skimmer, ect, ect. Jason at Premium ended up getting me a sedra pump and I was able to use a few parts off of the old pump and I was able to make it work but I will not ever own an euroreef again. A horrible company to deal with if you ever have any problems.

I have the RS80 promo model I won at MACNA and I love the thing. All of my previous skimmers have been DIY and I had a LifeReef a while back this one is the best! Its under rated for my tank but I cant afford a bigger one at the moment

I would like to know whats better?, ASM or EuroReef. I know they are pretty much the same skimmers. Just curious if the brand makes a difference..

ER is way better than ASM. They are built much better and perform much better. ER has made several updates to their pumps and added new pumps. Depending on the model, an ER pulls 2x or more air than an equivalent sized ASM.

Love my RS80, but I got the $250 model for the extra durability. Had a Remora Pro before and the Euro-Reef is by far the winner. Im skimming about the same, 16oz per week, but the RS80 is twice as dark and stinky. Plus I have about 4 gallons worth of chaeto so I guess the skimmer could do more but it has a lot of competition

In the past, ASM was on par with ER. Not anymore. ER upgraded their pumps seemingly distancing themselves from ASM.
With that said, a modified ASM has closed the gap. You can get an used G4 for $300 + $50 modifications will stand up with ER RC180.
