Couple sump set up questions

I am upgrading to a bigger skimmer. It wond fit in the first chamber of the sump like my current skimmer does. Want to swap it to the second chamber (three chamber sump) and have its drain feed back into the first chamber where the fuge will now live. Any downside other than a little more detrius in the fuge? Also what system volume turn over through the sump is optimal?
Tanks is a 75, sump is a 40 breeder.

although there are differing opinions most are not running that kind of volume through their fuges. perhaps you could split the first chamber and just run the overflow from the skimmer into the fuge.

I thought about that too. The way its set up there are only two baffles between the mid section and the return section. If I run the drain there I get micro bubbles.
