tunze nano streams vs. seio

The tunze 6025 is only rated at 660 gph. Wouldn't this make it comparable to the Seio 620? Do the seios push what they claim?

the seio 620 is 620gph. i would buy the nano streams any day over a seio, their too bulky.

not to mention the annoying suction cups with the seios. that alone would make me buy a nano

The 6025 are really nice small pumps. I would buy another one over a seio 620 anyday.

And they use half the electricity. The Seio is just a Rio with a wide outlet, it isn't a true prop pump. I can't wait til the 6055 comes out so I can take my 820 out.

Believe it or not, I had heard of Tunze but was not aware that they made hang on power heads. I was looking at some reef tank pics on another thread here and saw a few tanks with them. I did a little reading on them and they sound like a pretty efficient powerhead.
Right now I run 6 Minijet powerheads in my 55 gallon reef. I still think the overall flow is pretty crappy (part of that is due to my poor rock design) and it sounds like everyone here highly recommends them.
I was thinking of getting two, one for each end of the tank. Is that too much flow??? Also, how are they in regards to maintenance, fairly easy or complicated?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Happy New Year everyone!!

How many watts do the Tunze use? My 620s use 8W, do the Tunze use less?

I think two 6045's would be perfect for a 55

Thanks Jag,
Now a follow-up question: Do you think that the two 6045's would be sufficient to replace all the Minijets in my tank?? Keep in mind I will be doing a total redesign of my reef and pulling all the live rock off the back walls of my tank to improve the overall flow of current throughout my tank. Thanks again!!

I just got my nanostream 6025. Love it! I too was looking at the Seio's pretty strongly. Man am I glad I went with the Tunze. My LFS had the Seio's and I can tell you that the flow on the 620 compared to the 6025 is not close. Take my advice, go with the Tunze.

Tunze all the way. The wonderful compact design and the packed in magnet mount should be more than enough to convince you... Oh yeah, it's also a Tunze pump. Hehe

I have a 6025 and I am strongly thinking of purchasing the 6045 or 6055.

Peace,
John H.

Im thinkings of either 2 Seio 820, or 2 6025. This would be for my 55. Which do you suggest?

Don't be cheap man. You'll regret it. Go with the Tunze's.

Let's see, two Rio 820s @ 36w or two 6025s @ 12w with the magnets? The answer is clear.

I would go with 1 6025 and 1 6045 or two 6045's

With a 48" long tank the 6045s will give you better coverage. I'm telling you, the magnet mounts make all the difference... you'll much happier with them than with suction cups.

Peace,
John H.

How about 2 x 6025 or 1 6060?

I really think you should at least have two decent sources of flow... instead of just one source of flow with your 6060... you should have something to counteract or mix up the flow a little bit.

Peace,
John
