Fuge help please

I have a 29 gallon tank with one of the HOB aquafuge refugiums on it(the large one I think it holds about 4 gallons of water in it.). Anyway I am wondering it there is enough flow moving thru it? I have a MJ1200 that feeds into the built-in skimmer then it just overflows back into the tank. I was thinking of adding a very small intank filter to the fuge just for running carbon and increasing the water movement inside of the fuge. Would this be ok or is it just a waste of time and money? The main reason for the fuge is for growing pods and nitrate reduction.

Thanks for the help

Vince

Actually refugiums should have low water flow so you should not add anything.

ok because i was thinking about modding something like this to just run carbon and keep it out of the display tank....

is 50gph going to add that much water movement to the fuge?

Carbon can be good, but really is not necessary in a well established tank with good water parameters. If not taken care of properly carbon can be detrimental because if you dont change it enough, it can leech all it collected back in. Although, I could be wrong, but is there not another compartmentin the hang on fuge where you could put a small bag of carbon in?

I guess I could put a small bag of carbon in the section that overflows back into the tank but then I would have to section it off so I don't have to worry about the carbon blocking the return to the tank. I was just thinking that it would be more effective if the water was going thru the carbon with some type of pressure rather then just trickling over it.
