How many Nanostreams for a 75 LPS?

Well, like the title says, how many Nanostream 6025s?

At 660gph, 3 would give me around 1900gph, plus the 300 or 400 from my sump. Would this be too much for LPS corals? Don't think so, but wanted to probe for opinions before I order.

I like the idea of having 3 to give me lots of flexibility and possibilities of setting up colliding flows, etc.

thanks in advance!

I find three to be a bad number...I may be an idiot, or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I have 3 MJ1200s, and I keep changing the position of the third one because I can't decide where to put it, so I just took it out. Since most tanks are rectangular...doesn't is make sense to have an even number of PHs?

I'd cehck in the LPS forum but I'd say there is such thing as too much flow with lps. Their flesh is delicate and can sometimes get irritated\separated from the skeleton and it all goes downhill from there.

Some aren't very high light as well so you may have them to the mid to bottom parts of your tank and i'm not sure you'd need 3 powerheads for that.

In my 55 I have 2 6025s- one on either end opposing each other and then return flow from my sump and i feel it is just enough. On a bigger tank you might get away with more.

I'd suggest if you can get them without paying shipping start with 2 and see if you need a 3rd

I don't know if I would waste my time with those nano streams on a 75, tunze pumps are good quality and last a long long time.

Eventually you will go bigger, and those nano streams will be pretty worthless.

You should consider a 6000 w/ a controller or a 6100 kit. If you can not afford it, maybe look at the seio pumps and mount them Tunze style, thats what i use in my 40g

I hear you Rob, but bigger is going to have to wait for a new house, with a floor build at least _last_ century

The full streams are out of budget at the moment (probably).

How are the seio's for relyability? What mountings do you use for them?

thanks.

How about 2 6045s. I'd post in the Tunze forum, you'll probably get more bites over there. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/fo...?s=&forumid=92

Danch, i use the hanging mount, the seio 2600 is about 80 bucks and pushes 2600 gph... I have heard some people complaining about them not powering up and burning but I have not had a problem yet... \
