halide only system
if you had a 150w halide only light, what bulb/temp would you get? what is everybodys favorite bulb as far as color?

Depends, do you like blues, whites or yellows? The 14k seem really popular these days.

well, im running 2 14k current bulbs, and like the color but think there is better out there. ive heard alot of people like the 14k phoenix bulbs. what do you guys think??

I have a halide only setup on my 29g reef and I use a SE 250w hamilton 14k bulb on an electronic EVC ballast. I couldn't be happier with the color! Its fairly blue, but not really unnatural looking.
I do plan to add a couple of 24" T5's so I can view the aquarium longer each day. Probably two actinics or an actinic and a daylight bulb. I will probably not run them when the halide is on, because I see no need to alter the current color or increase the lighting. |
