mandarin tail loss

I have had my mandarin for 5 months and he has trippled in size, so, I know he is eating well and seems happy. i haven't seen anyone picking on him but he has lost his tail. All other fins are perfect. What can I do or what can I expect to happen?

My bet is one of the triggers or the 6 line wrasse.

Interesting! I picked up the 6 line about a month ago to help with my clam. Do you think that he will continue to do this? Any solutions?

There is very little you can do to stop that aggression short of returning the six-line to the store or removing the mandarin. I've heard more than one person blame 6-lines for attacking mandarins---nothing I've ever seen myself, but I lost three fish to a flasher wrasse. I don't trust wrasses any longer---the one I got was a filamented fairy wrasse, that's not supposed to be aggressive.
