double inline sumps

Anybody out there ever connect two sumps together(in line) for additional volume and the obvious added space. I dont want to cut and paste together, ie remove each sumps end walls and glue the two sumps togethor. How did you connect flow wise - gravity through pipe nipples/bulkheads, and if so sizes and number, did you have them close to bottom or off the bottom a little and why?. I may research fuge's and possibly turn a portion into that but need to make sure my plumbing will be set up right for that to work. What do you use to secure fasten acrylic to acrylic if I install additional plating/chambers? Thanks for any advise - words of wisdom.
