goniopora
i have a 210 gallon tank up now for 18 months, 6 months ago i put in a red flower pot goniopora, i didnt realise how much it would expand so i decided to move it about 4 months ago. this resulted in a small piece left behind on the reef by its growth since i put it in, now the small piece has 7 heads, is this a good sign re this difficuly coral

That is a good sign. It should be spot fed though. Are you familiar with goniopora.org? If not, it is an excellent resource:

Good luck with it I have my green for over 2 years now, I don't feed it, I've tried before and no luck so I just let it be. I see that the purple looks like an alevepora (sp?)

I think one it's got 12 arms and the gonis 24 not sure what the count it's, but the ones that has the less are aleveoporas.

Goniopora have 24 tentacles and Alveopora have 12.
I would think the fact that it's growing is a very good sign. Apparently people have lots of success feeding their Gonioporas cyclopeeze. Haven't tried it with mine, though. Like the fellow above said, check out goniopora.org. Lots of info. |
