Question Normal output t5 to mh acclimation>

I realized after a few months of little growth out of my corals that the lights I recently purchased from my lfs are normal output t5 not ho t5 like I thought and was lead to believe! I am going to take the plunge and have ordered a 250w mh light and also two 65 watt actinic pc lights. My question is what kind of acclimation do I need to do for my corals? My current lights are a total of 80 or so watts of normal output t5's. If I put the set up on the tank at the standard height am I gonna kill or burn my corals? I have two large frogspawns, a medium sized torch, zoas of various sizes and colors, a large kenya tree coral, several xenia frags(wich look like they are close to death), a small red monti cap frag, and a hipo clam. The tank is a 40b so its only eighteen inches deep. Please respond because I feel as I have neglected my corals do to my ignorance and that of my lfs!

Thanks for any help!
