Quick question about getting rid of Aiptasia...

I have 4 aiptasia on my live rock. I saw the post above about using various medications/products to get rid of them...but, since i have so few (my tank's only 30" long), can't I just pluck them from the LR with a pair of tweezers? I'd rather not medicate (even use vinegar) if I can help it.

If you can cleanly break off the rock where the foot of the aptasia is attached than you will never see it agian. I reccomend using bone cutters.

If you try to cut or pluck it off, most likely it will grow back and or multiply. despite a few recent posts of negative feedback reguarding Joes Juice, I have used it with great succes and had no negative affects on my reef.

I killed mine by pulling the rock out of the tank, and pouring boiling water on the section (keep it as small as possible) that had aiptasia, the flush that area a second time right away with boiling water and that will kill it's spawn. If you kill it in the tank, it will most likely multiply. The put the rock back in the tank. Buy a peppermint shrimp or a few if you can, and put them in the tank, they willeat any remaining aiptasia on that rock or others.

Worked great for me,

mine go in as soon as i touch them, youll never get the whole thing out, i just bought some aiptasia control from the LFS for $12 its thick white stuff like glue i filled up the syringe turned all my pumps off & got right to the aiptasia with out touching it & squrited it, i died right then, the only thing is i had a coral right under it some did drip on it, i had my turkey baster ready to blow it off, the corals fine, it says use the whole syringe full on just one, but i killed 6 so it didnt take that much to do the trick, just keep your pumps off for about 30min, so it dont go threw your skimmer & what is in the tank wont blow around to much,
