Geos Nielsen Kalk Reactor Questions

A couple of questions for folks with the Geos Nielsen-style kalk reactor or similar models:

1) I am going to use this on my 75 and was planning to run it with my top-off. This will obviously put a slightly different amount of kalk in my tank each day. How easy is it to overdose? Is it better to run just pure RO/DI during the day and kalk with RO/DI only at night? I'm going to be adding a calcium reactor when I hook this up, so that should be keeping pH a bit lower to make up for the addition of kalk. But I worry that a hot day and a lot of fans and evaporation could alter things...

2) What interval do you run the MaxiJet on? I am going to hook it up to a multi-timer on my reefkeeper, so I can have it go at pretty much any even interval (i.e. every twenty minutes for three minutes, etc.). Thanks!

Anyone got one of these running on a 75 or smaller tank?

Thanks!

I run mine via a Litremeter III pump set really close to what I evaporate. I also have an auto top off that picks up any slack. I'm dosing about 1.5 litres per day, and my top off kicks on with little squirts here and there. This has kept my levels really steady. That amount will change come summertime.

I am mixing mine for 5 minutes every 6 hours. The impeller wears out and will need to be changed, probably every 6-9 months. At least mine has lasted that long and others seem to be about the same time frame.

This is on roughly a 150'ish gal. system.

Thanks. That is very useful. I had pondered purchasing a Litremeter III--still might but couldn't afford it and everything else right now. I went with the AquaMedic Niveaumat top off water replacer, which has a peristaltic pump. So far, it's much better than my makeshift previous solution. But I may end up running that makeshift solution in tandem.. Anyone out there have experience just using the kalk reactor for top off?
