Question about Chaeto...

My Chaeto floats on the top of the surface how do you get it to stay on the bottom.. Do i attach between rocks?

cheato will naturally float and grow toward the top of the water. If you must sink it, simply lay a rock on top of the wad.

tuck some under a rock like you said........that is how i did it when i started my fuge and then it grew in to the space provided so i was able to remove the rock and it stayed in place.

no, not at all. That's where mine stays in my fuge. I wrapped it around a rock to hold it to one side of the fuge and it grows very fast. But it grows straight up to the surface, and then starts spreading.

I want mine to float to get more light but it sinks. I got to prop it up with a PVC pipe

Or is that actually a chaeto? My LFS said so but I really don't know.

I originally had mine held down with a rock but it go pretty cruddy around where attached. Now i just let it float and it seems to work better.

I tied my chaeto to the overflow box from my fuge with fishing line. My chaeto seems to be growing much faster this way, also acts as a filter to catch detritus as it flows out of the fuge into the sump.

I need to find a way to secure my chaeto as well. My two urchins are always grabbing it and wearing it around the tank lol.
