HELP! Crack in sump!

I have a crack in the end panel of my 55 gallon sump. Can I silicone the crack (wishful thinking) or do i need to replace the whole thing? The last section holds about 8 gallons and the return pump. It is dry right now.

Replacing a panel can be tricky and unless you have experience with tank building it may be better to just buy a new tank.

would it be impractical financially to have a tank builder replace the panel as opposed to purchasing a new tank?

Yes, IMO. You can get a new 55 for less than you can probably repair it for, as all silicone in all seams has to be cut out and replaced, very time consuming.

Good luck!

I just went through this about 3 weeks ago and now it seems like everyone is cracking their sumps......maybe I p****d off the great Sump God somehow? Replace that panel or the whole thing......it will save MUCHO MUCHO heartache in the end! Glass is incredibly weak when flawed! HTH! : )
