I own both, and now use acrylic for all my sumps and glass for all my tanks.

acrylic v/s glass

I'am going to jump in here with my two cents worth. I just bought a really nice 120 flat backed hex acrylic tank. Pros...Moved it by myself , it really looks great (the shape is different than all my buddies tanks and the clarity is awsome. It will last a long time. Cons...I know I have some work to do on the scratches (they are all really fine from previous cleanings) and I'll have to warn my everyone in the house not to bang on the front. I have had both glass and acrylic and like them both. Acrylic doesrequire a higher level of care when maintaining but I feel this outweighs the cons.

as long as you keep gravel out of your scrubber, and use a plastic blade to clean 1 inch to sand line (to avoid getting small grains of sand in scrubber) it's hard to scratch acrylic, don't scrub to hard, take your time and remember, it does'nt matter what the inside looks like, if your metal belt buckle is scratching the outside while you clean (DOH!)

After spending all day scraping coralline off my acrylic after letting it get out of hand for a while, wishing all the while for glass so I could take a razor blade to it .... it was nice to read this thread and be reminded of the "pro"s of acrylic.

Others have said it, but here it is again ... Don't fall behind on your coralline clearing maintenance if you have acrylic. Credit cards and plastic scrapers are just no match for really entrenched coralline.
