HELP!!! Please, help!

Yesterday, I had a thread about white specks on one of my fish... When I came home, those were gone and I was happy!

I woke up this morning they were back, plus my other fish look chaulky/or milky on his skin.

Please help!

Here is a pic of the one with the specks:

Here is a pic of the one that looks chaulky/milky:

I plan on getting a QT tank today, to hopefully save both of these fish... any special plan of attack, besides lowering the salinity?

Also, should I use water currently in my tank? Or totally new water? I'm going for a 10gallon tank...

Thanks! Sniff... this is a sad day! And they are my FIRST fish..

I am so sorry but that clown doesnt look good at all. I think its Brooklynella.
From another board.
"Brooklynella is a parasite seen most frequently in clownfish, so its sometimes called "clownfish disease"; however, other fish are certainly susceptible to this parasite. The most effective treatment is formalin bathes."

And here is clear pic clown with Brooklynella. You can make your judgement.

Here is more info about Formalin Bath.

Formalin Bath

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a separate dedicated container fill with water from your display. Use a 37% formaldehyde solution [brand name Formalin which is sold in the hobby] at 20 drops for each gal of water. Be sure to aerate the bathe water using an airstone that is deadicated to formalin bathes. Place infected fish in the bathe for 45 minutes, every other day, 3-5 treatments.

Warning: This is a toxic medication so don't overdose. When finished with the bath, safely disgard the bath water. Do not use the same water for subsequest treatments. Take care not to have contact with the formalin.

Good luck

Are you sure the top pic isn't ich. It looks a lot like ich to me.

Just to clarify//What are your water parameters? I have found that if your specs are out of wack that it causes extra stress on your fish. That extra stress will open the door to infection. Get those fish out of your tank a.s.a.p. Put them in a 5 gl bucket w/ an airstone and heater if necessary. Treat w/ a small dose of copper. And by all means get that quarantine set up. I have a 90 gl tank so I opted to use a 29gl tank, but you could use a 10 gl if the only two fish you are treating are the clown fish. I wish you the best of luck. The top pick looks like ich to me, but the second pick is debateable. In any case I think you'll find copper will treat 90% of all fish diseases. Never put copper in you display tank though, for it will kill all corals and inverts. Lastly leave your fish in quarantine for a minimum of two weeks after all signs of the ich has disappeared.hth

I would bet that you have a case of brooklynella. I would treat them in the next day or so or you are going to lose those clowns.

My water parameters are excellent. 0 everything(Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate) and 8.2 for the pH...

Do I purchase the copper from my LFS?

Copper is not effective for treating Brooklynella. Copper also can have some really deletorious effects on clownfish.

Use Formalin because it has been proven to work on brooklynella.

And I can purchase that from my LFS? Great! Thanks for the help!

Could I do both, plus lower the salinity to get rid of the ICH?

Yes. Any good fish store should have some form of this medication. Formalin is just a solution of formaldehyde and water, but it may not be sold under this name. Just read the ingredients.

One common product I think that has formalin in it is quick cure by aquarium pharmeceuticals, though I am not positive. Also, try and read the concentration it is because the dosage may vary a little bit but it is typically sold at about a 2% concentration.

If you can't get it at an aquarium store you may try a vet or a pharmacy, but I doubt you wouldn't be able to find it unless you live in a remote area.
