Tank Is cloudy
Well i moved my tank around 1 month ago that has been up for two years. During the move i switched out the sand to all new Aragonite sand. Well the tank is still cloudy, especially now that i got a diamond goby, he is sifting away and now i am regreting the purchase because its cloudier then usual. Do you think i should return him?
I have not had any deaths in some time, Ammonia and nitrite measure zero, nitrate light pink, Salinity 1.023, and calcium just under 400. I am running a seio 620 & 820, but i turned off the 820 and supplemented it with a MJ1200 for now. I am prettys sure that the sand is what is causing the cloudiness, do you think it will eventually settle? All corals are open and appear to be happy. I also added activated carbon, hopefully this might help. I have a 12 gallon nano as well, where i also changed the sand, but this is clear as day. any ideas? And yesterday i did an 8 gallon water change, tank is a 50 gallon. |

Did you rinse the aragonite before using it? If not i'd suggest several gravel vacuuming sessions. That is probably the only way to get rid of the cloudiness, except for waiting it out which may take months.

briefly rinsed the sand, i aimed the powerheads a bit higher so that it moves less sand, but only time will tell. The Diamond Goby isnt helping out much, but he sure is cool.
