Question about water changes

Cycle has finished and I want to do my first water change. The thing is, I dont have a spare powerhead of heater to use for the new salt water mix.

Do you think this will work?

I will just keep the water overnight in my room so it will be a decent temperature (im guessing around 70 degrees). I am only going to change about 2.5 gallons in my 30g tank, so I dont think the temperature will drop at all when adding the new water. Also I will mix the salt and water in the morning when its at room temp and once its fully disolved and ive mixed it for a while, I will just do the change..

Sound ok, or should I be more concerned about the temperature and salt sitting for a day before doing the change?

i think it should be fine. Worse has been done before just make sure you mix a lot. If you got an extra air bubbler throw that in there too.

Without being a profanity removed, lots of folks say it is a good idea to aeorate the water for at least 24 hours before you use it. You probably don't need the heater, you will get a small temp change, if its too much, you could first replace just half the water, let the temp rise a bit, and then add the second half.

I don't bother heating the water for changes, but I don't do more than about 20% at a shot. The aeration is useful, though. I'd check the pH before using the water. Some salts need a fair amount of aeration to reach a reasonable pH.

I use two buckets and pour the saltwater back and forth a couple of times. Then I fill my childrens small plastic bathtub with hot water and place the saltwater bucket in the tub and leave it for 20min.
