question

can diatoms be blown off the rocks using a powerhead? just trying to id a problem im having.

Maybe, but they can be a little "sticky" a gentle rub with a soft (clean) brush should knock them loose

yes they can. Its always interesting to point a powerhead kinda at the glass during a cycle...then let the diatoms go and look right where the powerhead shoots....there wont be any alga right there lol. And when i move it to a different spot, it grows where it was and gets blown away in the new point.
