Same type ballast burn's bulb's differently...

I have 2x250W XM 10k SE bulbs powered by two regular Coralife magnetic ballasts. I have recently noticed that one ballast is burning the bulb a dimmer than the other, greyer with less color rendition. To prove this I swapped the ballasts between the bulbs and right enough the ballasts are burning the bulbs differently. I did not notice this a few months back, both sides were nice and bright with good vivid coloration.

Do metal halide ballasts age and degrade with time? Is there an easy fix for this or will I need to replace the ballast? The two ballasts came with a Coralife fixture and I haven't had them for a year yet, so this may be a warranty item...
