I've got two going in my tank. One on a mj1200 and another on the overflow return. I think they are great.

These things are awesome... until a snail jumps on for a ride, then it's all mayhem from there. Honestly, these are cool little devices and work very well for being so cheap!

I currently have one on an MJ 900 and will be putting another one on an MJ 1200. In planning for my next tank, I'd like to build a Calfo manifold for the return, modded with these units on all the return nozzles... talk about random flow!!

You might find that the Flo will stop spinning after 2-3 months in the tank. This is caused by break-in and stresses on the gears from snails, etc. Normal wear and tear. There is a clever mod that will keep the unit going... In fact, I just applied this mod to one of my units tonight and it works very well.

anything which relies on the power of the water running through it: these, scwds etc are usually not very reliable in the longrun

I had one on my AP12 with the mj900 and took it off. It cuts the flow in half,at least it seemed like it.Might be ok with the 1200,but then it blows the sand around in the front right corner, on the AP12 anyway.

I've had one for about a year, and the second for about a month. It has never stopped or gotten jammed up. I've had snails sit on it and spin around, makes for an interesting show. I recommend them.

IMO these are well worth the money they cost. Just don’t rely on them for all of your random flow.

I’m the one that came up with the small mod for these that csb linked to. I just wanted to share what the company wrote me when I shared with them my idea:

Quote:
Yes, the gears will disengage if excessive water flow is used.

The Flo is rated for up to 300 gph, but some have problems with less than 300 gph.
HTH
