Ringin Frozen Food with Tap ok?

This might be going crazy but I am trying to reduce my phosphates and I read that rinzing frost foods is recommended. Can I use regular tap water to rinse? Or will the crap in the tap water stay in the food when I feed it?

toughie! Why not just use a cup of tank water? That should rinse good enough.

I thought of that but Im trying to find out the cons of using tap water. Maybe I have to try and defrost some food with tap water and in another cup tank water and then run some test on them. Which tests would be most useful?

You could rinse with RO as well just to save yourself the trouble.

Rinsing with tap is fine.

I've always wondered this as well. I've been tripple soaking mine in RO before I feed.

I usually start with a little RO and 2 or 3 drops of garlic then I move to another small dish or RO and Selcon and finally just a quick dip or 2 in yet another dish of RO.

Needless to say, this is time consuming. I think I'll try to first rinse it really good in tap water and then a soak in RO water w/ the garlic and selcon together.

Thanks.

I have used tap water to rinse frozen food for years. Never had a problem.
