lexan vs glass

one of the panes of glass broke on the top covering. (to keep water off lights in my canopy). can this be replaced with lexan? there are a couple of cuts to be made to fit around skimmers etc... my worry is after wiping salt creep off a few times it would become more translucent by the scratches.
