Ichy?

I'm looking for live bacteria for a new tank> What are the chances of getting bad stuff such as ich or other parisites from LFS Rock Rubble and or live sand. You know a lots of their tanks share a fitration/circulation system. Need to know what to do real fast. Thanks

Make sure you qt everything that you are going to put in your tank, some lr may have unwanted pests (crabs etc...) i wouldn't worry too much about the lr/ls. I would just qt everything else (new fish, corals, shrimp etc..)

If you dont put any fish in during the cycleing process the ich should die off.I would wait 3-4 wks at least to add fish.

Hi Robert,

The chances are low that the LR or LS will have parasites. They need a host fish to live and usually LR and LS have been devoid of fish for a long enough period that they are not infected. Rubble form another reefers tank can but if his fish are healthy and have so been for a month or more then you are OK.

Thanks for answering guys, I was really just thinking about starting the bacteria in the sand and mmaybe whatever little life was come in with rubble. Should I do that or or just wait for the real live rock to be put in. I am planning on using uncured rock and letting that cycle the tank, waitng couple months before adding corals or fish.
