New Tank Stand Question
Hi Folks,
I bought a 45 gallon cube off of a local reefer who didn't have time to put it together and care for it. It's 24x24x18. He gave me a stand that he was working on, and I am wondering if it will be strong enough to hold the tank. It isn't exactly level, and isn't a perfect square either (looking from the top down). The ends that the tank will be sitting on aren't level either. Would styrofoam help fix this, or anything I can do to help it, or should I be looking for a new stand? If anyone has any DIY plans for stands that would help too! Thanks in advance! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by j83; 01/28/2007 at 05:12 PM. |

Build or buy a new stand. There is no reason to use someone else's mess.

I agree with Dubbin1. It's not the wood being used but the plumb part that's the killer. You don't want that added stress on your tank joints.

not to mention the fact that all the weight of the tank appears to be held by Angle Brackets. There is no Header or transfer of weight to the stud parts at all.
Ditch it, burn it or use it as a conversation piece... just do not put a tank of water on it unles you are trying to win AFV with a video of it going SPLASH...lol |
