Need flow suggestions...
I tried the nano section but i wasnt getting much help... i figured i would get a lot more traffic here...
i need some help from more experienced reefers with my flow situation.. About 8 months ago i discovered the scwd and immediately planned to use it on my next tank... I setup my 20 gallon Long in august and slapped that baby on with a quiet one 3000 as my return - meaning i should be getting out ~540 gph and switching at 5 seconds... Well, anyone who has used a scwd knows that isnt true - im getting about 16 second switch which means im going from 600gph up 3 feet into a scwd and getting 120gph out... Woot woot... i have tiny pumps that can do more... So i need to come up with a new plan... i think i am going to hook it over the top like a standard return, but what should i do about "random flow" that i want in the tank? The tank is a mixed reef... right now mostly softies with a torch and a frogspawn but i plan on bringing home my first few sps from a local frag swap on the 11th of Feb... so id like to have this new flow setup ASAP... what is everyones experience with the nanostreams? is a 6025 too strong for a 30" long tank? Would two 6025's pointing at each other destroy my tank? i go pretty minimal on rock in my display and i would be willing to remove more to increase open space for water to flow and i feel that will work to my advantage for creating flow... if you are having trouble thinking small scale.. just give me suggestions and ill do my best to scale them back to meet my needs: I.e. "i like the tunze pumps" then i know to look at the nanostreams. "maxi-mods work great for me" - then i know to look at the medium flow maxi mods..etc..

The 6025 would be perfect in a 30. I have 2 6025's in my 40 - 36" long.

I'm really happy with my Hydor flo addon to a MJ1200. Downsides are that they are big and kinda unsightly but create very nice random motion. Also are inexpensive. I use just 1 in my 20H and a manifold return system.
You could always upgrade the return pump to drive the SCWD I guess |

I've got 2 6025 Nanostreams in a 10G ... I think they'd be fine in a 30 inch tank, LOL. Caveat - I have no sand bed so that may change things for you ...
