Now what?

I have my tank and my AC 300 filter. I am going to order a refractometer, Ammonia Nitrate Nitrite and ph salifert test kits, 50 gallons Tropic Marin salt (is this the right stuff). What else do I need? What lighting?

I prefer Instant Ocean salt, personal preference. You might also want to order a PO4 test kit. What size tank do you have and what do you want to keep in it. That will help determine what kind of lights you will need.

You will need a good skimmer at some point in the near future also. Not at start up unless you just want to.

I have a standard 10g tank. I'm not sure what to put in there yet. I know i am going to get live rock and sand but thats all for now. I have a heater made by Radiant that I used in a freshwater tank. Would this be OK for a saltwater tank?

OK. For light you would be limited to maybe a 13w power compact. As well as fish, you could keep a leather coral or some zoanthids in there. With a tank that size, you would need to do water changes every week so to keep the bad stuff from happening.

Good luck with it and keep reading here. Probably the best research you can do.

What is the wattage on the heater? You wouldn't need one too large for 10g. Maybe a 25w or so. Having come from freshwater, is its sized right, it would be fine to go into the saltwater tank.

Im not sure about wattage but its 7 1/2 inches long. It can get pretty hot though. On the temp adjuster, it just says higher and lower.
