Just added a new fish and there is a war in my tank now ???

Just added a mimic yellow ( i know the name thats to RC ) and my khole tang is beating the heck out of it

Any change this will settle down.... the kole never has a problem with any other fish why is it beating this one up >?

tangs can be tricky to mix sometimes and i cant remember the kole tang...but generally you're not sposed to mix similar shaped tangs.

unless your tank is 120+, not a good idea to mix two similar tangs.

Yup I agree. Mixing similar body styles of tangs is not a good idea unless they are introduced to the tank at the exact same time( and even then, it's a risk). I have to be honest, I really don't know if this will stop any time soon. Sorry, but that's my opinion.

I would be curious to know how big of a tank 2 tangs are going into though. If it's big enough, maybe at some point your KHole will leave him alone. If it's not that big of a tank, I would be more certain that they will probably continue to fight.

The Kole Yellow Eye Tang is similar enough in body style to the mimic or Orange Shoulder tang, which ever is the one he has. Their coloring is different, but their body types are similar.

Unless your tank is over 150g, you should take out the mimic and take him back because if you have a small tank and you introduce a schoolgirl into a tank with Muhammad Ali, what do you think will happen? Anyways good luck.

try placing a mirror on the side of the tank. This should keep the khole tang busy fighting himself in the reflection and give your new fish a break. It really does work.

I 2nd Kristin's suggestion about the Mirror. We have a fairly agressive Yellow Tang, who went crazy when we added a Dot Dash Butterfly (same size and mostly yellow) on the weekend.

We put the mirror up, and magicaly the Tang started to go after it's reflection, bumping into it and chasing it. It really was quite comical, but most importantly it worked. He tried it again a bit when the lights went out, but fairly quickly everyone found their "homes" and all was well.

As Kristen said, it really doesn work.

But unless the tank is big enough to house 2 tangs, I think it may be a bit of a moot point. We need to know how big this tank is.
