Is this Skimmer too big

I have a 75 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump and am wondering if the deltec ap600 is just too much overkill? I have the oppurtunity to get one used, but just wondering if anyone had any thoughts. thanks, eric

Too big? No such animal. What may happen is the skimmer may clean the tank & then sit idle (have limited production) for a time. Not a problem but can lead to some believing the skimmer isn't functioning.

My old AP600 was used on a 75, worked fine & did a good job. FWIW the same person has used a 701 on the same tank.

Without casting any aspersions - Deltecs are about as plug & play as it gets.

You can find the info in the Deltec forum..........but........

1) Unpack & install, feed from either drain or pump
2) Get flow through skimmer to match specs (160gph)
3) Adjust air tap to 2:00 position

You're done. You can open & close the air tap to adjust the type of skimmate but that's your call.

EDIT - If, for some strange reason you have problems there are lots of folks in the Deltec form who will be happy to help troubleshoot your installation.

Not too big at all. Just right for that size setup.

My experience was that it was too small for the 60g heavy bioload reef that I had earlier. I moved up to the APF600. You might consider the H&S A150 for about the same price, if you have the space available for the footprint and height clearance.
