mixing sand?

I am putting water in my tank tonight. The only thing that will be in there is my SB. Is it alright to put ro/di water in and then add the salt? thanks

Mix the water before it goes in the tank if you already have sand in there. Otherwise you'll get a bunch of salt stuck in the sand. It would eventually dissolve but that could change your SG if you had enough undissolved salt on the bottom and eventually it did dissolve.

But what if I do the "garbage bag trick".(putting the bag on the top of the sand.) Would it be ok then?
