Lumenarc Reflectors on 180 Gallon.....

Should I go with 400w bulbs or do you think that would be too much? If so i can go with 250's i just thought the SPS would love the 400's!

I have 175 14000 SE in a Lumenarc and it penetrates very well in a 24in deep tank. My sps are only in the top third of my tank, but my yellow Fugi in the sand at the bottom still gets plenty of light. The Lumenarcs really seemed to make the difference. When I changed my reflector, the sps really started to take off. In other words I think 250 would be pretty bright!

I have a 120 gal tank which is 48X24X24 and I have two 250 watt MH in Lumenarc Mini reflectors. They throw a lot of light into the tank. SPS frags on the sandbed even get enough light.

I got 2 luminarcs, one with 250 watt 14,000k, and one with 400 watt 14,000 k. Some sps find it too bright near the surface under the 400 watt, they survive but do better if moved down. Others though can handle it. Under the 250 watter, the sps don't do so good at the bottom of the tank, but I can have softies there, which don't do so good under the 400.

The corals in my avatar are reasonably close to the top under the 400, these are all high light loving corals.

Yeah so i think that i will go with the 400's just mount them a little bit higher in the canopy! What height are your guys 400's mounted at. I was thinking if i went with the 400's i would mount them about 14-16" above the water!

Where is the best place to buy a complete lumenarc package with ballast, bulb, and everything?

What is the best bulb right now as far as growth of coral is concerned? I was happy with my old XM 20000 But i hear that an XM 10000K has more PAR and thus makes corals grow like weeds
