how often should I feed the nori to two tangs?

A regal and a yellow. There is live rock in the tank, and I feed some pellet food once a day. The always seems like they are starving.

Also, will they normally rub up against some rocks trying to stir something up to eat? Interesting behaviors, I hope it is normal?

I feed a little, maybe 1x1 inch peice of seaweed a day, I also know someone that feeds his two tangs some every three days I think. I would switch from pellet food to frozen mysis though or something, probably has better nutrients.

Tangs are grazers, they really need Nori/algae strips everyday. You might also check into some good frozen food such as Formula's one and Two, Emerald Entree, Marine Cuisene, Mysis, Spirilina, Prime Reef etc..etc.. They need a variety of good foods soaked in vitimens daily and pristine water as they are prone to MHLLE

I feed my yellow tang a meaty meal in the AM. Then I leave a little Romaine to graze on during the day. Then give him a nori "treat" at night. I've had him for a week and his coloring and eating habits are great so far.

It can also be a sign of ammonia intoxication if the fish doesn't demonstrate white spots.

Fresh water dips should be last resort because you can make some major stress, if it is ich, just soak his food in garlic and feed him.

Often symptoms of any disorder vanish on their own. People attribute what ever "cure" they did with the success. Science just doesn't work that way... it has to be repeatable. Garlic often increases the feeding instinct, that can be verified. A good diet, and plenty of food can help a fish fight off an infection.

But garlic and other cures really do nothing to the ich parasite. Hyposalinity and copper based treatments are the only ones that have been verified scientifically.

I feed my 6 tangs twice a day a meat meal of mysis and prime reed and also twice a day 1/2 sheet of red, green or brown nori. They are all nice and fat.

well, after the dip, nothing seems to be changes. There are some dark spots near his eyes.

Any ideas, treatment?

My LFS was telling me a while back that they had a tank with some ich problems and they used Garlic Guard in the water (and in with the food as well) and the ich cleared up with no re-occurence. They recommended that I mix some garlic guard in with my food mix (I usually use about a half capful per batch).

Feeding food soaked with garlic to cure Ich is a myth. However, the garlic will stimuate the fish to eat more to get enuff nutrient to fight w/ the Ich. Usually, when the fish gets Ich, it will eat less.. and less. Therefore, it is getting so weak to fight with the disease.
