Pods in the fuge

Do pods migrate from the fuge to the display on their own or do you have to move the physically?

I think you have to move them, where did you get your pods from, I am looking online for suppliers with no luck. What do you feed them?

They'll migrage on there own. You can move more to your display is you wish by swapping LR or shaking the macro into the tank.

I don't even have a fuge yet I was just wondering how they moved. Don't they just come from the live rock somehow? Aren't they like hitchers? Also if you don't have a fuge, will they grow in your tank? I had an ich outbreak and now am allowing my tank to be fallow for the next 6 to 8 weeks, will pods grow in my tank? Only things in there are assorted corals hermits and snails.

I wouldn't necessarily call it 'migrating'.... more like getting sucked up by your return pump and shot into the main tank

Yes they will grow in your main tank but your fish will eat them as soon as they see them, that's why it's good to have a fuge for them to reproduce and feed the main tank.

As for buying pods.... I have never purchased pods and my fuge is absolutely full of them. I guess they hitchiked in on liverock or corals. Either way... they will eventually show up in your tank whether you introduce them or not. But buying some to get started isn't a bad thing.

Anybody from the Uk with Uk sources of pods?

I used to have pods but they are all gone now.

I have no where to grow them, would a completely separate tank be acceptable and manually transfer some over daily to slowly build up the population, what do they eat?

YOu can culture pods, Reef nutrition has a page to tell you how. I am culturing their tigger-pods in a seperate 1 QT mason jar myself. I transfer a few over once a week to boost what is already growing in my refugium and tank. Trying to keep a Mandarin fat & happy.

pods eat algae and phyto. I put 40 drops of phytofeast live in my tank once a day (20 in fuge, 20 in tank) and 2-3 drops in the culture container.

From where?
From the fuge they get sucked up by the return pump and sent into the main tank. from a culture you can use a brine shrimp net, available for $2 from any LFS. You could also use the net in the fuge or shake out the macro into the main tank. Just messing with the macro in the fuge will knock some loose and into the return pump.
