Baffles

Hi!

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't remember the answer. I'm designing a sump, Skimmer -> Refugium -> Return, and only really have room for two baffles going from Refugium to Return. Is it best for the water to go under then over, or vice versa. Will be using LR and chaeto in ref. Thanks, K

I think it depends on what you plan on keeping in your Fuge area... obviously if you put stand you wont be able to prevent it from going under the first baffle.

I had to actually draw this be able to answer

Keep in mind that unless you have an auto top off, the water evaporation will take place in your pump area. With having the Under->Over if the water is low in your pump area you will get a waterfall and it will make bubbles..

Cause of the above I pick Over->Under That way if the water level drops and splashing occurs, the bubbles might get trapped in between the two baffles before going into return pump.
