The lighting is a little low for corals. I'd recommend as least one more (preferably two) bulbs.

The hydrometer will be OK for a little while, but you will eventually want a refractometer.

What other filtration are you planning (filter sock, carbon, phosphate media, protein skimmer)? I doubt you could get by with just live rock unless you do lots of large water changes.

Ill not be buying light demanding corals if I even consider leaning to the reef route. I just want to buy light that will make the tank look very attractive.

I was wondering if the coralvue 2x24W is an alright alternate to the teklights since it is cheaper.

Ill stick with the hydrometer. Refractometers are too expensive.

With filtration, I wont be buying too much livestock. Just couple of clownfish and one damsel and some cleaner invertebrates. Therefore Ill be doing some frequent water changes instead of buying an expensive skimmer to remove excess nutrients.
